New Orleans Jazz Musuem, Director of International Relations

Taslya Mejía, a native of La Ceiba, Honduras, and raised in Brooklyn, New York, found her true home in New Orleans in 2003. Her career and community engagement journey span over two decades, tracing back to her college years. Taslya holds the esteemed position of International Relations Manager at the New Orleans Jazz Museum, where her passion for culture and national and international connections thrives. However, her dedication to community outreach goes far beyond her current role. Her professional journey has seen her involved with various organizations, including Telemundo 42, Healthy Start New Orleans, and the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Foundation.

 

Taslya's impact also extends to the economic realm, evidenced by her involvement with The Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Foundation and her previous chairmanship of Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Young Professionals in 2022. Her efforts in these spheres highlight her dedication to empowering minority communities and fostering economic growth and stability. Moreover, Taslya's generous spirit shines through her involvement in philanthropic endeavors such as New Orleans Missions, A Daughter's Worth, Giving Hope and International Mission Trips, demonstrating her commitment to making a tangible difference in the lives of those in need, locally and internationally.

 

Her global perspective is further reflected in her role on the board of directors for Global New Orleans and her membership in the Louisiana District Export Council, where she leverages her expertise to promote international trade and diplomacy. Despite her myriad professional commitments, Taslya remains grounded in her role as a mother, prioritizing her family above all else. Her devotion to her three children underscores her belief in the importance of nurturing and supporting the next generation.
