Arts for Community Development

OVERVIEW

From May 22-25, we had the privilege of welcoming a delegation of professionals from Saudi Arabia to explore how the arts serve as a powerful tool for social engagement, cultural exchange, and community empowerment. Participants examined the role of music, visual arts, film, television, and even video games in addressing social issues and engaging marginalized communities. Through meetings with local artists, educators, and cultural leaders, they learned how the arts foster civil society, mentor disenfranchised youth, and contribute to the creative economy. Discussions also focused on the importance of intellectual property rights in preserving cultural heritage and protecting the profitability of artists.
