Job Description:
As an integral part of Global New Orleans, the Program Intern will be under the supervision of the Executive Director and work directly with the Program team to maintain
program quality and integrity for international visitors. The Program Intern will have the opportunity to accompany visitors to meetings and become familiar with an aspect of American foreign policy that promotes person-to-person diplomacy through professional exchanges and international understanding.
Key Responsibilities:
Research and identify local non-profit organizations and government agencies as prospective program resources
Draft correspondences to introduce Global New Orleans to new and prospective resources
Generate program proposals to be submitted to national partner agencies (NPAs) in Washington, DC, for the awarding of programs
Generate and format local program itineraries
Communicate with professional program resources, hotels, and transportation company to provide up-to-date information, verify relevant information, confirm meetings, and obtain meeting directions and special instructions
Communicate with NPA to obtain travel information and details for the program interpreters/liaisons.
Prepare information and program packets for visitors
Post on organization’s website or other social media outlets when requested
Assist with preparation of cultural activities, volunteer information and program packets
Update and prepare visitor tracking report, constant contact, and other databases
Assist with other administrative tasks and special assignments
Qualifications:
Currently enrolled in a relevant undergraduate or graduate program
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively with team members and external partners
Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills
Demonstrated interest in international affairs, diplomacy, or cultural exchange
Proficiency with MS Office (Access, Word, Excel, Outlook), Salesforce skills a plus
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
